The project to set up a freight tramway in Île-de-France has taken a more operational turn of events, mainly by one freight line being tested for a month. This has convinced the project team that the idea is well founded: there was no disruption to passenger traffic or road traffic and it was well received by tramway users and transport and merchandise professionals. The year 2012 will be spent moving from this first trial on to “the real thing”, with the decision to begin the operational phase being taken at the end of the year and the aim to have it up and running in 2014.
