The Night of Solidarity - La Nuit de la Solidarité - allows a “snapshot” to be taken of the number of people with no accommodation solution at a given moment within a given territory. The aim is to gain a better understanding of the profiles and needs of homeless people in order to adapt the responses accordingly. The count of people met represents a minimum.
Since the first Night of Solidarity, the Paris Urbanism Agency - Apur - has accompanied the procedure in its preparatory stages, in drawing up the survey maps and analysing the results.
The 6th Night of Solidarity in Paris took place on the night of the 26th to 27th January 2023, and mobilised almost 2,000 participants in the counting operation, both voluntary and professional, and nearly 50 partner associations. 355 sectors were visited, as well as specific sectors (campsites, the Périphérique ring-road embankments, Bois Vincennes and Boulogne woods, car parks, parks and gardens, AP-HP hospitals, SNCF railway stations, RATP métro and RER stations).
3,015 people with no accommodation solution were met in Paris during the Night of 26th to 27th January 2023. This represents +16% more than the previous Night of Solidarity on 20th January 2022 (+417 people). The results show an increase in the number and percentage of women (14% compared with 10% in 2022) and of couples and families (12% compared with 6% in 2022).
The geographical whereabouts of the people met show their presence in all Parisian districts with a concentration in some ares: Central Paris, the 12th district (including the Bois de Vincennes woods) and the 19th district where 40% of the homeless people were counted. Then come the 14th, 15th and 16th districts (including the Bois de Boulogne woods) and the 20th district with over a hundred homeless people. The other districts counted fewer than 100 homeless people on the night of 26th January.
