202 local authority members of the Paris Métropole Joint Studies Association since June 2012

Figure of the month : 202 local authority members of the Paris Métropole

This is the number of local authorities (Communes, inter-municipalities, Departments and the île-de-France Region) which have been members of the Paris Métropole Joint Studies Association since June 2012. They cover an area of 2,546 square kilometres and represent 9.3000,000 inhabitants, that is to say 88% of the Parisian conurbation.

Created in April 2009, Paris Métropole originally brought together 87 local authorities that wanted to find a joint response to the social, economic and environmental challenges facing their territories. Paris Métropole uses  the cooperative model to federate its members as widely as possible:  local authority representatives and services and socio-economic stakeholders.
One of the main objectives of the Paris Métropole Joint Association is to work collectively towards inventing a new form of metropolitan governance. In a Green Paper -Livre (ou)vert-  published last June, members addressed the subject of governance which is the common cornerstone of Paris Métropole propositions. Since 1st October Paris Métropole invites all inhabitants to participate in a Big Public Debate on the Governance of the Parisian Metropolis and to express their vision of the Grand Paris of tomorrow.
Apur has accompanied Paris Métropole since its creation by carrying out studies on the themes chosen to be given consideration and priority by representatives : housing, mobility, solidarity and the call for initiatives.
