The future Grand Paris Express Line 15 west will connect 11 stations, from Saint-Denis Pleyel to Pont de Sèvres. In 2012, 282,000 people were employed in the 11 station neighbourhoods along this line, representing the highest number of jobs in all seven sections of the future network. 54% of these jobs are concentrated in the two station neighbourhoods situated within the perimeters of La Défense (La Défense and Nanterre La Folie). The majority of posts in four of the station neighbourhoods are filled by senior executives and professionals in the tertiary sector. They make up half the workforce. Two neighbourhoods are more oriented towards jobs in light industry and support (manufacturing, logistics…) and two others are strong on public services. The remaining three neighbourhoods are more diversified. Over the last 15 years, the neighbourhoods of La Défense and Saint-Denis Pleyel have been the most dynamic in terms of construction, in particular of offices.
This study contains facts necessary to understand the current economic fabric of the neighbourhoods on Line 15 west in order to measure the impact of the Grand Paris Express network (RGPE) on the neighbourhoods which are going to accommodate the new stations. It has been undertaken in partnership with the Île-de-France National Institute for Statistics and Economic Studies -Insee Ile-de-France- and is a continuation of work of the Grand Paris station neighbourhoods Observatory whose aim is to complete the analyses of demographic, social and urban features and provide an economic profile of the territories.
