A moderate increase in the number of dependent, elderly Parisians by 2030

étude - têtière actu - Parisiens âgés dépendants à l'horizon 2030 APBROAPU558

Paris will probably show a moderate increase in the number of inhabitants aged 75 or over and a slight decrease in the dependency ratio. If recent trends in terms of mortality and migration continue, by 2030 the population will be aging more slowly in Paris than in the rest of Ile-de-France.

In Paris, the proportion of people aged 75 or over has decreased since the beginning of the 1990s, whereas it has gone up in the rest of the Ile-de-France and in the provinces.

Up until 2030, there will be a slight increase in the number of dependent Parisians, above all among women, and the need for home care will rise.

Up until 2020, the number of potentially dependent Parisians will increase by 4,600. In addition, due to the increase in expected lifespan, disabilities will be more serious.

The number of employees necessary to take care of the dependent elderly will, therefore, have to go up by 2000 Full-time Equivalents (FTE), ie. an increase of 13%.
