The Seine at last

The Seine Embankment: Les Nautes cafe on Quai des Célestins

Real Italian coffee and Spritz, the incomparable Venetian aperitif, at the new café “Les Nautes” set up in a spruce container on the embankment Quai des Celestins, places to relax by the river; a garden at the foot of Hôtel de Ville …  Now that the construction work which took place during the summer is over, the Right Bank Seine Embankment is accessible to pedestrians, the first stage in the “Berges de Seine” project.

Inaugurated by Bertrand Delanoë on 17th September 2012, the newly redeveloped Right Bank has a calming effect upon the traffic on the adjacent streets, brought about by the pedestrian crossings which are protected by traffic-lights and lead down to the new riverside promenades. The pavements have been widened and the car lanes narrowed to ensure a better sharing of the streets and to encourage pedestrians to contemplate one of the most beautiful views in Paris, between the Quai de l'Île-de-Cité, the Nôtre Dame steeples and Île Saint Louis.
Soon the entirely renovated Maison des Célestins' will house the restaurant “Les Nautes” and four barges will be moored to the embankment and will propose cultural activities.
In spring 2013 the Left Bank will change its appearance, with car traffic being   stopped from the Orsay embankment to the Pont d'Alma bridge and sports and cultural facilities being set up.
