The Seine-Marne Confluence – A forward looking diagnosis

The Seine-Marne Confluence

In the context of its partnership programme and convention with EPA ORSA, Apur has carried out a study on the challenges and potential of developing the Confluence.

As the geographic gateway to the ORSA territory, and with the river's singular geometry creating emblematic spaces but also administrative boundaries, the Seine-Marne Confluence is considered sectorially in the framework of municipal projects.
This remarkable area of the metropolis should however find its specific place in the urban landscape and play an important, central role in the territory's current development dynamic.
This is why EPA ORSA wanted Apur to accompany them in reflecting on the area to:
  • identify and develop the Ivry-Alfortville-Charenton relationships,
  • work on the complex articulation of  the different transport options and the road system in the area,
  • expand its references (increase the status of the Confluence, activities, metropolitan symbols ...)
First of all the report describes the territorial situation of the Confluence through its historical evolution, its attractiveness and accessibility and analyses the  make-up of the urban and rural landscape fabric. The Chinagora site is then described in detail as well as regulatory data.
Following this the development references of the Confluence and islands relevant to issues related to the site are presented.
Finally, certain aspects are put  forward to be considered for inclusion in the specifications for the future transformation of Chinagora.
