Workshop visit - Paris Métropole, a new actor in the metropolitan debate

têtière 142x114 - 32e rencontre nationale des agences d'urbanisme - visites

Since 2004 inhabitants of the Paris region have shown an increasingly strong and real interest in the future of their city.

Running parallel to this public interest a new structure “Paris Métropole” has emerged.  Instigated by the City of Paris, the Region  and numerous local authority members as early as 2006 when they met at the Metropolitan Conference, it was then taken up by the Government with the consultation of 10 architects. The initiative is run by the City of Paris and municipalities in the heart of the metropolis.

Paris Métropole has become one of the main areas where the multi-faceted debate on the capital city takes place, in a form that is original and dynamic, that makes sense of the scale of the issue and is well worth knowing about.

The workshop will place Paris Métropole in the context of the new governance of the capital and present the engineering on which it is based.

Workshop organised and hosted by the Île-de-France Urban Planning and Development Institute and followed by a visit of the Bièvre scientific valley.

The detailed programme of the workshop can be seen on the French page.
