60% of newcomers to the Métropole du Grand Paris are between 15 and 29 years old
During the year 2012, 151,000 people moved to live in the Métropole du Grand Paris while 197,000 people moved away.
The metropolis’ economic and cultural vibrancy is particularly attractive to young people who move there to finish their studies or for their first job.
Paris continues to rate very highly as a place to go, as one out of every two people who move to the metropolis choose to stay.
Those who leave the metropolis are mostly families or elderly people.  
In 2012, departures outnumbered arrivals in all the territories of Métropole du Grand Paris except in T3-Grand Paris Seine Ouest.
This note, coproduced by Insee Ile-de-France and Apur, is based on the latest available data from the 2013 census obtained from answers to the question “Where did you live a year ago?”.
