This study, carried out before the COVID-19 health crisis began, offers keys to understanding the current inequalities in regard to professional integration, the sectors of the population that are most affected and priority areas.
It offers a statistical framework of access to employment and professional integration which covers the whole of Métropole du Grand Paris (MGP). Based on data made available by the population census and the employment agency - Pôle Emploi-, the study provides elements for analysing the evolution of the working population, employment conditions, job seekers and sectors of the population that have difficulty integrating into the labour-market.
The general trend is that the rate of employment among inhabitants of MGP is continuing to increase and the socio-professional changes observed for many years pursue their course. The rate of unemployment has also increased, although the number of job seekers recently stabilised. Difficulties to integrate professionally are higher among certain sectors of the population, notably for people of 50 and over and foreign women. Great disparities exist within the Parisian metropolis, and some gaps are widening between certain areas.
This work, carried out before the beginning of the COVID-19 health crisis, contributes elements for understanding and analysing integration difficulties on the scale of Grand Paris. While the economic impact of the crisis and its effects on employment are likely to be considerable, this analysis can provide assessment criteria for comprehending current inequalities, the sectors of the population that are most affected and priority areas.
